CHANGES TO SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS AND DISABILITY

GUIDANCE AND PROVISION

Parents may be aware that, from 1st September 2014, there have been significant changes with regards to Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) guidance and provision, resulting in a new Code of Practice. This statutory guidance has been designed to improve outcomes for children with SEND, through a more co-ordinated assessment process. The reform places greater emphasis on the involvement of parents, so that they understand what provision is available to meet their child’s needs.

Partnership with Parents and Carers is a strength of our school, and we embrace these changes to further improve outcomes for our children.

For more detailed information, please read the accompanying documents:

  • Department of Education Letter to Parents
  • Guidance for Parents
  • New Code of Practice

Should you wish to discuss this further, please make an appointment to meet with Mrs Broadbent, SEND Co-ordinator.
