Going for Gold

         Woodlands Primary School

            Going for Gold!

This innovative, extra-curricular opportunity was initially introduced four years ago where it received rave reviews from parents and children alike! We are very excited to be offering this fantastic opportunity for the fifth year running.

In a nutshell, ‘Going for Gold’ is our version of a skills based award, similar to the Duke of Edinburgh Award, but for our younger children in Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6. Each year group will be invited to take part in a programme at one of four progressive levels which, when successfully completed, will lead to a Copper (Y3), Bronze (Y4), Silver (Y5) or Gold (Y6) Award.

The aim of this new initiative is to provide our children with the opportunity to participate in a variety of enriching activities and learn new skills, whilst encouraging them to ‘be the best they can be!’

The activities for this academic year are outlined in the table below. Each activity will require children to attend after school clubs where the children will learn new skills and play an active role in achieveing their award.

More information regarding dates and times will be provided closer to the sceduled times they will be carried out. Please see the School calender for the dates for the after school sessions across Autumn 1 and 2.

Please see Mrs O'Hara in class 14 should you have any questions.
