Nursery 2021 - 2022

Mrs Webster BADGERS

Mrs Webster BADGERS

Hello, my name is Mrs Webster and I have worked at Woodlands for many years, both in Nursery and Reception. I have a passion for Early Years Education and giving each child the very best start to their school life!
In my spare time I love running, baking and spending time with my husband and our two teenage daughters, Freja and Klara. I also have a little puppy, Lottie, who I love taking for long walks. In the holidays, I enjoy visiting my family and friends in Sweden where I grew up. I am really excited to get to know all of the children in Badgers and I’m looking forward to an amazing year together!

Miss Rowland FOXES

Miss Rowland FOXES

Hello. My name is Miss Rowland, and I have worked at Woodlands for 3 years. I am excited to meet you all and discover lots of new things together. In my spare time, I love to go swimming and I’m actually a swimming teacher too. I love to set myself new challenges; last year I completed my first triathlon and this year I’ve entered the Chester half marathon for the first time. I have two little dogs called Bailee and Peppa, and I love taking them for walks along the beach.
I cannot wait to get to know you all and I am looking forward to all of the fun filled adventures we are going to have.

A very warm welcome to Nursery!

We would like to give a very warm welcome to Foxes and Badgers Nursery children.  The children are very lucky to work alongside a team of experienced professionals who move between the spaces and provide lots of opportunities to have fun, explore and learn.

In Foxes there are Miss Rowland (class teacher), Mrs Donoghue, Mrs Plage and Miss Stringer (teaching assistants).

Badgers has Mrs Webster (class teacher) and Mrs Griffiths (teaching assistant).

Spring 1

A Happy New Year from the team.

We hope you have had a lovely Christmas!

We are so excited to begin the new year with an exciting new topic 'Amazing Animals' where we will learn lots of animal facts and information.

Literacy

Our literacy focus will be linked to the story 'Let's all Creep Through Crocodile Creek' by Jonny Lambert.

Shhhh!

Let's all creep through the crooked, creepy creek. There will be scratchy thornes and swingy vines,

but ABSOLUTELY NO sneaky, snappy crocodiles!

Hang on... what's THAT?

Eek! Watch out for the hidden crocodiles in this fabulously fun escapade!

Maths

Number - This half term we will work with the children counting and exploring looking at numbers to 5.

Shape – The children will be encouraged to use everyday language to talk about the key times of the day when learning about the daily class routines and the use of positional language when discussing where things belong.

Topic

This half term our topic will be ‘Amazing Animals’ which we are so excited about.

We will use this topic to develop the skills across our creative curriculum.

P.E

Please make sure that your child wears their PE kit to school on their PE day (Monday will be an outdoor kit and Wednesday will be an indoor kit).

Indoor kit: a white t-shirt, black shorts, pumps and socks (or anything suitable).

Outdoor kit: plain, dark coloured jogging bottoms, a jumper or hoody and outdoor trainers and socks (or anything suitable).

Polite requests:

Please send your child with a labelled bag and water bottle (water only). Could you also provide your child with spare clothes and a nappy/pull up, nappy sack and wipes if your child is not yet toilet trained.

Please label ALL of your child's belongings.

Please inform of any changes in advance of the adult that will be collecting at the end of the day (Children under the age of 16, will not be permitted to collect a child).

The outdoor environment is set up prior to arrival, please do not allow your child to play on the equipment.

As part of their curriculum, the children are encouraged to access outdoors, exploring and learning about the environment. We like to take the children outside whether it's sunny, rainy, windy or snowy. Having a coat in school will facilitate this.

Please encourage independence with health and self-care, including dressing and toileting.

We value your contributions to your child's learning journal. Each class has an E-mail address (see below) to allow you to send us pictures of your children doing things at home. We can then add these to your child’s profile and learning journey.
