A very warm welcome to Nursery!

We would like to give a very warm welcome to Foxes and Badgers Nursery children.  The children are settling in beautifully and they are very lucky to work alongside a team of experienced professionals who move between the spaces and provide lots of opportunities to have fun, explore and learn.

In Foxes there are Mrs Donoghue, Miss Rowland and Miss Wharton.

Badgers has Mrs Webster, Mrs Plage, Mrs Thompson and Miss Horgan.

Polite requests:

Please send your child with a labelled bag and water bottle (water only). Could you also provide your child with spare clothes and a nappy/pull up, nappy sack and wipes if your child is not yet toilet trained.

Please label ALL of your child's belongings.

We encourage home/school communication, however due to COVID we will be unable to discuss matters verbally at the door, we would be grateful if you could email any information regarding your child to the school office.

Please inform of any changes in advance of the adult that will be collecting at the end of the day (Children under the age of 16, will not be permitted to collect a child).

The outdoor environment is set up prior to arrival, please do not allow your child to play on the equipment.

As part of their curriculum, the children are encouraged to access outdoors, exploring and learning about the environment. We like to take the children outside whether it's sunny, rainy, windy or snowy. Having a coat in school will facilitate this.

Please encourage independence with health and self-care, including dressing and toileting.

We value your contributions to your child's learning journal. Each class has an E-mail address (see below) to allow you to send us pictures of your children doing things at home. We can then add these to your child’s profile and learning journey.

 Autumn Term 2020

During the Autumn term we will be welcoming the children and settling them into their new Nursery classes. This term our topic will be "All About Me". We will be exploring;

  • Celebrating similarities and differences
  • Likes and dislikes
  • Families
  • Where we live
  • Homes
  • Bodies and feelings

Through the topic, we will be assessing the children across all the areas of learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This will enable us to support all children in their learning.  We would be very grateful if you could send in some photos of your families. They are an excellent aid to circle time discussions and the children love telling us who everyone is. We look forward to working with you throughout the year. Please don't hesitate to contact our school if you have any questions, concerns or simply want a little chat about your child.

Many Thanks

The Nursery Team

Autumn Term 2

A very warm welcome back after the half term. We hope you have enjoyed the break with your families. This term we will be launching Commando Joe's which teaches Resilience. As part of our whole school Behaviour Policy we will be introducing the children to their Team Houses to begin earning house points. This will involve learning about the inspirational identities of Marie Curie, Ade Adepitan, Tim Peake, Malala Yousafzai, Rosa Parks, and Stephen Hawking. We will also be celebrating the many events that unfold this half term, such as; Bonfire night, Remembrance, Diwali and Christmas.

This half term we will be planning the new topic with ideas from the children, details to follow soon.

Spring Term 1

Happy New Year and welcome back! Hope you have enjoyed a lovely Christmas break.

We are looking forward to getting started with our new topic. This half term we will be exploring the topic of ‘Winter Wonderland’ as a majority of the Nursey children have shown lots of interest in the Winter season. We will learn about this season through a range of stories linked to Winter. We have chosen the story ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ as many children enjoyed sharing ‘The Gruffalo’ during the end of the Autumn term.

All the learning areas will be developed through the story. To begin our topic, we will learn about arctic animals, their habitats, diet and lots of other fun things. In maths, we will be learning our numbers 1-10 and using our numbers to count objects.

There will be lots of Commando Joe’s Missions to look forward to completing!

Summer Term 1

We would like to give the Nursery children a very warm welcome back to school after the Easter holidays. We hope you had a relaxing break with your families!

We are very excited to start the term by introducing the lovely story of ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’. This story will lead us into doing some planting and learning how to grow and look after our own plants and vegetables.

We are also going to explore the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and we are hoping to grow our very own butterflies which we are VERY excited about!
